Adam played in the event though feeling less than 100% because of a really bad cough and cold. Harry Bell had entered but he had to withdraw because of a really bad head cold. Adam had entered both the Cadet and Junior event so was hoping to get quite a bit of TT during the day.
The opposition was very tough for Adam with the Number’s 3,13,17 30 32 55 67 69 88 and 100 Table Tennis England ranked players having entered. The no 100 didn’t make the last 16 but went on to win the plate. That was Lewis Palmer who narrowly beat Adam at Blackpool two months ago. He beat the no 67 who didn’t make the last 16 either!
Zac Cantor plays in Division 2 in the Bury & District TT League ended up winning the junior plate event. He just beat Daniel Olsberg in the semi-final. Adam played Daniel in the plate event and came from 2 games down to level the match. So it was a fifth and final set shoot out and it went to 10-10. Adam had a couple of match points but just couldn’t get the win and lost 14-16 to a player who got to the semi-final. Daniel also plays in the 3rd Division in the Bury League so it shows the level that Adam is playing to. Only the previous day Daniel had won the plate event at Leeds so Adam is mixing against players who are getting a lot more table tennis.
