Harry Bell aged 13, Adam Kenzitt aged 14 and Max Brooks aged 15 played the majority of the Sponsors Cup to win the final in spectacular fashion. They played in four previous rounds to get themselves into the final against Wardle Conservative Club B. It is a handicapped completion with each player having their own individual handicaps based on the percentage number of wins they have in the League fixtures. Their league results actually put them near the bottom of Division 5 in the Bury League which they play in. Here is a link to their website: http://www.burytabletennis.org.uk/
Ian Barton for Wardle was their best player having only lost three sets all season. This did not deter Harry who inflicted a rare defeat on him. The ‘boys’ had a comfortable lead all through the match and could enjoy the last couple of sets knowing they could not be beaten. A reward for all of their hard work during the Friday night coaching sessions. A well done to our coaches as well.
So proud they were of their win that they all turned up to the Finals Night presentation night to collect their trophy sporting their club shirts. The trophy was presented to them by Bury League Chairman Frank Green.
