Opportunities

If you improve your table tennis skills there are plenty of opportunities that we can offer you for you to play competitive table tennis, locally and further afield.  The table tennis season runs from September to April/May time. We run our coaching sessions through to the first week in July and then have a break until the first week in September.

  •  If you have someone to play with for a practice you can hire a table tennis table at Castle Leisure Centre in Bury. They usually put you in one of the squash courts. You need to check when that is available with the main reception at Castle Leisure.

  • During the TT season there are opportunities for extra practice and the occasional friendly match with Hyndburn Table Tennis Centre, just through Accrington. It takes about 25 minutes by car from the centre of Bury. Bryan our Development Officer will arrange these with Hyndburn and will let everyone know. Details will be on the website as well. Check out details at the Hyndburn TT website

  • During four Saturdays and Sundays in the TT season we have a number of teams comprising of three players entered in the TABLE TENNIS ENGLAND CADET & JUNIOR LEAGUE. This is for our members under the age of fourteen years in the Cadet League and under eighteen for the Junior League who the coaches  think have progressed their skills and are in our second coaching session. We usually checkout everyone during our summer session between April and July. We speak to all parents first to see if it would be of interest to them. It is the ideal entry level for anyone taking part in competitive table tennis for the first time with standards ranging from almost beginners to a very high standard where players would progress to the Junior TABLE TENNIS ENGLAND League when they reached fourteen years of age. It is a full day’s table tennis at the TABLE TENNIS ENGLAND Halton Table Tennis Centre. See Halton Table Tennis . It is set in great facilities and there is plenty of room for parents to come and watch. We always try to make sure one of our coaches attend to add support during the matches. It is a great day out and always enjoyed by everyone who take part.

  • We have also entered at least one team in the local Bury & District Table Tennis League. We always make sure players are in a team equal to their playing ability and are also in the correct division in the league.

  • The difference with this League compared to the TABLE TENNIS ENGLAND Cadet League is that players of all ages play so there will be many different styles of play that our members will come across. Matches are weekly throughout the season and the fixtures and results are posted to the Bury League’s website.

  • Dependent on the number of teams we have entered in the various Leagues we arrange extra coaching on selected weekends throughout the season at a small extra cost. Details will be posted on the website.

  • Because we are a PremierClub with TABLE TENNIS ENGLAND we have a close working relationship with their Regional Coach. Extra coaching sessions and ‘talent spotting’ sessions are arranged, usually at Halton Table Tennis Centre on Saturdays. These dates will be published on the website.

  • Included on the Bury League’s website are lots of great tuition videos which show you have to develop all aspects of your game.

  • So despite us only operating on Tuesday and Friday nights  you can see that there are excellent extra opportunities to improve your table tennis skills.
