The final day of the National Cadet league, played at Halton Table Tennis Centre on 24th March, was a resounding success for the Academy. The A Team represented by Thomas Hurst, Ben Strapps, Matt Edmondson & Corey Wild , won the title in the first division. The lads playing for the first time in the higher division won all their matches over the course of the four weekends & all four of them appeared in the top 8 of the individual player averages, with Corey being in top position prior to play on day four.
Our B Team, all younger members of the Academy, with 3 of the players playing in the National league for the first time, was represented by Freddie Hughes, Jack Evans, Luca Bloor & Joe Evans, managed to receive the runner up medals in the 3rd division. This was not expected but lying in 3rd position at the start of the day, they managed to recover the deficit & secure a great win in their last match of 5-1, pipping their rivals into second position by 1 game.
A fantastic achievement with all players competing in a very tense atmosphere with great determination & team spirit. A big thankyou also for the support of all parents & coaches.
